Walk, Bike, Rollerblade, Hike

Oak Hill consists of 200 acres and six miles of conservation land two miles down the road. The elevation gain is 200', making it a reasonable day hike for families. There's an outcropping of rock, which affords beautiful views to the east. On a clear day, see if you can pick out the Boston skyline 30 miles away.

Looking for a pleasant walkbike, or Rollerblade adventure? Head three miles west to Ayer, where the Nashua River Rail Trail begins. This flat, paved trail extends north 11 miles to the New Hampshire border, and beyond. Stop in the center of Pepperell, where you can grab a snack or an ice cream. Don't miss the newly rebuilt covered bridge, just a short walk or ride off Main Street.

Kimball Farm Ice Cream and Activities

Five miles east on Route 110 in Westford, is some of the best ice cream around. If that isn't enough to get you there, Kimball Farm also has bumper boats, batting cages, par 3 golf, a driving range, an arcade, a petting zoo, two 18 hole mini golf courses, animal adventures, cruise nights, a seafood/snack shack and more.

Canoe or kayak


Rent a kayak or canoe through Nashoba Paddler and enjoy a quiet afternoon on the calm waters of the Nashua River. Located 7.5 miles north of the campground, in Groton.

Just two miles away is Shaker Hills Country Club, rated the #1 public course in Massachusetts by Golf Digest. Five miles from the campground is a par 3, where you can precede your round with a tasty lunch at the seafood shack, and follow it up with some of the best ice cream in eastern Mass. For a fun experience the whole family can enjoy, explore the discovery farm and make your way through 2014's  Adventure theme corn mega maze at Davis Family Farm Adventures in Sterling, about 17 miles. Don't forget your bathing suit for the splash park in the summer, and your appetite for apples in the fall.

A 20 minute drive away, you can walk through a winding indoor pathway surrounded by hundreds of free-flying butterflies at The Butterfly Place, in Westford.

Weather permitting, beautiful views of western Massachusetts, Mount Monadnock in southern NH, and the Boston skyline can be seen from atop the 2006' mountain. Hike the trails, drive the summit road (Memorial Day until the last weekend in October), or ride the chairlift during fall foliage season. Many festivals take place at the ski area throughout the season.
